Suitcase covers

Your suitcase goes through a lot at the airport. Conveyor belts, baggage holds, luggage carousels, all of them have a way of leaving their mark on even the most carefully chosen bag. At Lipault, our suitcase covers are designed to take the impact instead, shielding your luggage from scratches, dust and splashes, while keeping your Lipault colour and style clearly visible underneath.

Protection You Can See Through

A suitcase cover is one of those accessories that earns its value the moment your luggage comes out of the hold. Scuffs, dirt and zipper damage are the reality of checked luggage travel, and a clear suitcase cover is the simplest and most effective way to prevent all of them. At Lipault, our luggage covers are transparent for good reason: you get complete protection without hiding the colour of your suitcase underneath, and your bag becomes significantly easier to spot on a busy baggage carousel.

Why Choose a Clear Suitcase Cover?

Our suitcase covers are made from a clear, flexible material that keeps your Lipault luggage visible at all times while providing a protective layer between the bag and everything the baggage hold throws at it. The clear material is naturally water-resistant, helping to protect your suitcase from rain on the tarmac and splashes during handling. It stretches to fit snugly over the case without distorting its shape, and the Velcro fastening at the base keeps it securely in place throughout the journey. Two openings accommodate the top handles and telescopic handle, so you can carry and roll your suitcase normally with the cover fitted.

A Cover for Every Suitcase

Our suitcase protectors come in a range of sizes to fit across the Lipault luggage range:

  • S: designed for cabin suitcases (55cm), ideal for protecting your carry-on in the overhead locker and on the baggage belt.
  • M: designed for medium suitcases (63cm), a great choice for trips of one to two weeks.
  • L: designed for large suitcases (70-72cm), the most popular size for longer holiday luggage.
  • XL: designed for extra-large suitcases (79cm), covering our largest suitcase formats.
  • Trunk cover: shaped specifically for our trunk format, which has different proportions to a standard suitcase.

To find the right size, simply match the cover to your suitcase size. Each cover is shaped around a specific Lipault suitcase format, and the product page for every cover lists the sizes it is designed to fit. You can browse the full range of suitcases these covers are designed for on our large suitcases and cabin suitcases pages.

Easy to Fit, Easy to Remove

Fitting a suitcase cover takes less than a minute. Slide the cover over the top of your suitcase, adjust the openings to accommodate the handles and telescopic handle, and secure the Velcro fastening at the base. The flexible clear material conforms to the shape of the case without any awkward stretching, and removing it on arrival is just as quick. The cover folds compactly when not in use, so it slips easily into the suitcase itself.

FAQ

What is the purpose of a suitcase cover?

A suitcase cover protects your luggage from scratches, dust, splashes and the general wear and tear of baggage handling during transit. It fits snugly over your suitcase and acts as a barrier between the bag and the conveyor belts, baggage holds and luggage carousels it passes through on every trip. Our covers are transparent, so they also help you identify your suitcase instantly on the baggage carousel, and they keep the colour and design of your Lipault luggage fully visible underneath the protection.

How do I choose the right size suitcase cover?

Each size is designed to fit a specific suitcase format in our range:

  • Size S: fits our cabin suitcases (55cm)
  • Size M: fits our medium trip suitcases (63cm)
  • Size L: fits our long trip suitcases (70-72cm)
  • Size XL: fits our very long trip suitcases (79cm)
  • Trunk cover: shaped for our trunk format, which has different proportions to a standard suitcase

Simply match the cover to the size of your suitcase. If you are unsure, the dimensions of your suitcase are listed on its individual product page, and each cover's product page lists the formats it is designed to fit.

How do I fit a suitcase cover?

Fitting a suitcase cover takes less than a minute and requires no tools or special technique:

  1. Slide the cover over your suitcase, starting from the top.
  2. Adjust the openings to accommodate the top handles and telescopic handle.
  3. Secure the Velcro fastening at the base of the cover.

The flexible clear material stretches to conform to the shape of the suitcase without distorting it, and removing the cover on arrival is equally quick. The cover folds compactly when not in use, so you can store it inside your suitcase.

Are Lipault suitcase covers water-resistant?

Yes. The clear, flexible material used in our suitcase covers naturally repels water, protecting your luggage from rain on the tarmac, splashes during handling and the kind of damp conditions that a busy baggage hold can sometimes bring. For typical travel conditions, our covers provide reliable protection. For very heavy or prolonged rain, additional precautions would be advisable, but for everyday airport and transit use the water-resistant properties of the clear material are well suited to the job.

Can I travel on a plane with a suitcase cover fitted?

Yes. You can check your suitcase in with a cover fitted, and the cover will protect it throughout the handling process. Most airlines accept luggage covers without issue. However, if your suitcase is selected for customs inspection during transit, security staff may ask you to remove the cover for access. It is worth keeping that in mind if you are travelling with a tightly packed bag, as you will need to be able to refit the cover after inspection. For carry-on luggage, the cabin cover (size S) can also be used in the overhead locker.

Does a suitcase cover protect against theft?

A suitcase cover is not a substitute for a padlock and should not be relied on as a security device. However, it does add a layer of deterrence by making the zips of your suitcase harder to access quickly, which can discourage opportunistic interference during transit. For added security, a luggage strap alongside a cover offers a more comprehensive approach to protecting your bag in the hold.

What other accessories help protect my suitcase?

In addition to a suitcase cover, our luggage strap adds a visible layer of identification and additional security to your bag during transit. Our luggage tags help you identify your bag instantly on the carousel and ensure it can be returned to you if lost. And our suitcase organisers keep the interior of your bag as well protected and organised as the cover keeps the exterior.
